22/04/2023 – The Barn Dance

We had our first ever barn dance, entertained by The Hillbillies from Oxford. We pulled on our cowboy hats and in our best fancy dress we danced, yeehaaard and dosey-doed all night to some great Country & Western music. The band were brilliant, with a caller to give us the moves which most of us were useless at which made it even more fun. So much laughter. We have another one planned!

10/12/2022 – Santa Comes To The Barge Inn

After Mad Pete did a magic show complete with balloon modelling, we had a lovely visit from Santa, complete with elves. It was wonderful to see the children’s faces light up when he entered the pub with his lantern and sack of presents. Gifts and chocolate were given to all, and they all told him exactly what they hoping to find under their tree on Christmas morning. Merry Christmas One And All!

10/12/2022 – The Barge Inn Christmas Craft & Gift Market

We had a wonderful little craft market in the barn and were delighted with the turnout, considering the weather! Cold and frosty. We had mulled wine, sold cards, clothes, jewellery, Christmas decorations, body products, crotchet pieces and more! The atmosphere was lovely. Little ones came to get their faces painted in readiness for Santa, and big ones found lots of stocking fillers and gifts for friends and family. We’re going to do a Summer one next!

04/12/2022 -Making Christmas Table Decorations

Shelley Grey came to the pub this evening to show us all how to make living decorations for the Christmas table. Amidst mountains of holly, ivy and other greenery fresh from the towpath, plus baubles, ribbons, dried citrus and fir cones, we sat and created little masterpieces! Topped off with festive bows and LED candles, everyone produced something to be proud of. Glass of wine, good company, lots of laughs, meant it’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

27/11/2022 – Children In Need Charity Trike Ride

Thomas arrived at the pub on his trike having completed his 60 mile trial ride around Marlborough. So far this amazing little man has raised almost £2K for BBC Children In Need, with more to come – despite having a rare chromosome disorder himself. A huge achievement for a 14 year old boy. He was absolutely thrilled to be greeted by none other than Pudsey Bear himself, and get loads of congratulatory hugs!

07/11/22 – Making Little Witches!

On a cold, wet, windy and miserable Monday night, there was only one thing for it. Gather in a warm cosy pub and make little witches! Amidst buttons, bows, stuffing, fabric, glue, pens, wire and gemstones, beautiful witchy creations emerged! We all had a wonderful time together and were very proud of our finished pieces. What do you think of them?

29/10/22 – The Children’s Halloween Party

So much fun was had by all! Lots of little ones in fancy dress, and a great entertainer providing music, dance and games. The apple bobbing was hilarious! Prizes were given for the best dressed, spooky cakes and snacks were eaten, and the atmosphere was amazing. The parents had a great time too.
